Nation pays tribute to Jallianwala Bagh massacre martyrs

The nation pays homage to hundreds of those innocents who were brutally killed by the British Officer Reginald Dyer today in the year 1919 at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, Punjab. That massacre had further ignited India’s independence movement. The Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Trust is observing the 107th martyrdom day in their memory. 

President Droupadi Murmu today paid tributes to the freedom fighters who were martyred at Jallianwala Bagh on this day in 1919. In a social media post, President Murmu said that this incident instilled a new consciousness and firm resolve for freedom among the countrymen. The President said that the nation will always remain grateful to them. She expressed confidence that their spirit of patriotism will continue to inspire everyone to move forward on the path of national service with dedication and loyalty.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah today paid tributes to the brave martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh. In a social media post, Mr Modi highlighted that their sacrifice serves as a powerful reminder of the unyielding spirit of the people. The Prime Minister noted that the courage and unwavering resolve they demonstrated continue to inspire future generations to stand guard over the values of freedom, justice, and dignity.

In a social media post, Home Minister Shah said that on this day in 1919, the inhuman face of the cruel British regime was exposed at Jallianwala Bagh, when bullets were rained upon the unarmed countrymen who were holding a peaceful gathering. He noted that this heinous act shook the entire nation and further ignited the flame of freedom in the hearts of revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh. Mr Shah further described the incident as the historic turning point from which the spirit of revolution gained even greater momentum in the Indian freedom struggle.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today paid tributes to all those people who sacrificed their lives in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre on this day in 1919. In a social media post, Mr Singh said their sacrifice remains a defining moment in India’s freedom struggle, awakening the nation’s collective conscience. He said their courage continues to inspire generations to stand for justice, dignity and self-respect.
