The nation pays homage to revolutionary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh on his 118th birth anniversary today. It was on this day in 1907, Bhagat Singh was born in the village of Banga in Lyallpur district of Punjab, now in Pakistan.
Akashvani correspondent reports, Bhagat Singh was born in a family of revolutionaries. He was the second amongst seven siblings and was lovingly called as ‘Bhaganwala,’ meaning the lucky one. And he proved his name for the freedom of the country.
A state level programme has been scheduled in his native village Khatkar Kalan at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, today, where tributes will be paid to the great son of the soil.
A 100-foot-tall newly installed National flag will also be hoisted on the occasion.
