The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Patanjali University and Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram in New Delhi today under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr Virendra Kumar said that more than 15 crore youth and over 6 crore women have been associated with the drugs-free campaign so far.

He said the initiative has also reached more than 15 lakh educational institutions and trained around twenty thousand volunteers to work at the grassroots level. Dr Kumar noted that special measures are being taken in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs for tackling the drug situation in Border States such as Punjab and Haryana.

He added that authorities are intensifying action against drug traffickers, seizing and destroying narcotic substances and taking strict legal steps against those involved, with an aim of cutting off the supply chain into the country.
