Nagaland Police has intensified enforcement of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) across border districts following the recent Assembly elections in neighbouring Assam and the by-election in Mokokchung, detecting over 600 violators in a two-day drive aimed at curbing illegal movement and maintaining law and order.
According to police, 777 ILPs were checked across six districts bordering Assam on Friday, during which 436 defaulters were identified. Yesterday, another 1,217 permits were verified, and 208 defaulters were detected.
Police said action has been initiated against all violators as per law, and cases have been forwarded to the respective district administrations for further proceedings.
The intensified checking drive was carried out as a post-poll preventive measure to regulate the movement of non-indigenous persons and ensure strict compliance with ILP regulations.
