Nagaland joins the rest of the world in observing World Environment Day today. In line with this year’s theme, “Beat Plastic Pollution,” communities from all sections of society, young and old, are actively participating in activities such as cleanliness drives, tree plantations, and awareness rallies, all aimed at combating plastic pollution and promoting a pollution-free state. In addition, several competitions were organised across various schools and by the State Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio said that Nagaland joins the global movement to “Beat Plastic Pollution.” In a social media post on X, he stated that plastic waste is found in the land, water bodies, and even inside homes, causing harm to soil and public health. Mr Rio emphasised that Nagaland must lead by example and adopt sustainable solutions for a cleaner and healthier tomorrow.
