Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav stresses preservation of indigenous culture at Basant Utsav

Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav has stressed the need to preserve indigenous knowledge and cultural identity in a rapidly changing world.
 
Addressing the first edition of the “Uttar-Poorv Janjatiya Basant Utsav” in Guwahati today, the Governor, who is also Chairman of the North East Zone Cultural Centre, urged the youth to take pride in their roots while embracing progress and innovation. He said the festival marks not just the arrival of spring but also celebrates unity in diversity.
 
Highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the North East, he noted that the region is home to numerous tribes with distinct traditions, languages, music, and art forms, and such events provide a platform to showcase them.
 
The Governor added that Basant Utsav symbolises renewal, hope, and harmony, reflecting the close bond between nature and tribal communities. He expressed confidence that the festival will grow in importance and continue to promote cultural pride and unity.
