Recognizing the spirit of perseverance and achievement in sports, the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Nagaland, celebrated National Sports Day by awarding cash prizes to 239 outstanding sportspersons.
At a state-level event in Kohima today, Nagaland’s Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, S. Keoshu Yimkhiung, congratulated the athletes for their achievements and urged them to continue inspiring future generations.
Highlighting Major Dhyan Chand’s legacy, he reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and opportunities across all districts under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
Mr. Yimkhiung announced ongoing initiatives including the development of multi-purpose stadiums and futsal courts, as well as the drafting of a new Sports Policy aligned with the Khelo Bharat Niti 2025 and Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
