Mumbai: Union Minister Parshottam Rupala urges banks to keep minimum checklist to approve loans through KCC to farmers

Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (FAHD) Parshottam Rupala urged the banks to keep a minimum checklist to approve loans through KCC to farmers. Inaugurating the first National Conference on Kisan Credit Card (KCC) in Mumbai today, he said that a process similar to the DBT scheme should be adopted where the State government may identify farmers eligible for KCC loans. Highlighting the importance of financial inclusion, he urged all farmers to come ahead and reap the benefits of the KCC Scheme.

Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Dr. L. Murugan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced KCC keeping in view the plight of the poor farmers who got trapped in the vicious cycle of heavy interest after taking loans from private moneylenders. Speaking of the Prime Minister’s vision ‘Seva, Sushashan and Garib Kalyan’, he pointed out that financial inclusion schemes like PMJDY, MUDRA Loans, and SVANidhi play a major role in ‘Garib Kalyan’.

Union Minister of State for Finance Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad urged the bank representatives that KCC should be given to fisheries sector applicants on a priority basis. He also urged them to take a decision for expeditiously clearing all pending applications for KCC, including the applications received from the Fisheries sector.

A total of 80 thousand participants joined through physical and virtual modes as 35 States/UTs joined from 370 locations.

Minister for Fisheries of Maharashtra, Sudhir Mungantiwar and State Minister for Revenue, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Radhakrishna Eknathrao Vikhe Patil, and others were also present on the occasion.
