Mumbai Customs seizes ₹52.3 cr drugs, gold, diamonds; 16 arrested in major busts

In Mumbai, Customs officials at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport reported major enforcement actions during the last week, including significant NDPS seizures and smuggling cases. Through spot profiling, officers seized 25.318 kg of suspected Hydroponic Weed worth ₹25.318 crore, resulting in the arrest of seven passengers. Acting on specific intelligence, they recovered an additional 26.981 kg valued at ₹26.981 crore, leading to eight more arrests. In non-NDPS cases, four gold smuggling attempts were intercepted with the recovery of 551 grams of 24 KT gold worth ₹65.57 lakh. Officials also seized 469.75 carats of natural and CVD diamonds worth ₹54.13 lakh, which had been concealed in a passenger’s body cavity; the passenger was arrested.
