Customs officials at Mumbai airport seized suspected hydroponic weed worth nearly 19.8 crore rupees and recovered foreign currency worth over 93 lakh rupees in separate cases between May 7 and May 8. In a release, Customs said that it recovered 1 lakh USD, equivalent to around 93.45 lakh rupees, from a passenger who had arrived from Jamnagar and was scheduled to depart for Dubai on an IndiGo flight.
In another case, customs officials seized 17.915 kg of suspected hydroponic weed valued at around 17.91 crore rupees from a passenger arriving from Bangkok on a Thai Airways flight. Based on specific intelligence, officials also recovered 1.9 kg of suspected hydroponic weed worth around 1.9 crore rupees from two passengers who had arrived from Bangkok on an Air India flight.
