MoS Savitri Thakur highlights India’s commitment to advancing gender equality at UN CSW

Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur has highlighted India’s strong commitment to women-led development, inclusive growth and global partnerships aimed at advancing gender equality.
 
 
The Minister held a series of bilateral meetings with international counterparts and senior UN leadership to discuss cooperation on advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment in the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women in New York, today.
 
 
The Minister said the engagements offered an important opportunity to exchange perspectives on policy approaches, share best practices and explore new avenues for strengthening international cooperation in promoting the empowerment of women and girls.
 
 
The Minister also held a bilateral meeting with Aurore Bergé, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Equality between Women and Men and the Fight against Discrimination in France. The Ministry of Women and Child Development informed that the discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in the area of inclusive and responsible Artificial Intelligence. Both sides exchanged views on how collaboration and knowledge sharing could help advance gender equality in emerging technologies. The Minister also highlighted key initiatives and programmes of the Government of India aimed at empowering women.
 
 
Ms Thakur also met Rechie Valdez, Minister of Women and Gender Equality and Secretary of State of Canada. The Ministry said that the discussions noted strengthening India-Canada relations following the launch of the New Roadmap for India-Canada Relations in October 2025, which has helped accelerate bilateral engagement across multiple sectors.
