On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the ‘Asmita League’ was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar of Maharashtra today.

She encouraged women to take part in sports in large numbers and highlighted the importance of promoting sports among women in both urban and rural areas.

Various sports competitions for women were organised at the Divisional Sports Complex ground. During the event, Minister Khadse flagged off a cycling competition and a walkathon.

The ‘Asmita League’ is being organised across districts in the country under the Khelo India initiative to provide more opportunities for women to participate in different sports.
