Monsoon Rains Disrupt Life in Himachal; Orange Alert Issued for Several Districts

The monsoon rains continue across most parts of Himachal Pradesh, significantly impacting daily life in several areas. In the past 24 hours, Kasauli in the Solan district recorded the highest rainfall at 80 mm. The Meteorological Department has issued an Orange Alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Una, Bilaspur, and Kangra districts for the next 24 hours. A Yellow Alert for heavy rainfall has also been issued for Hamirpur, Mandi, and Sirmaur districts.

An Akashvani correspondent reports that in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, landslides in Baloth Panchayat of the Bharmour trible region, have completely cut off access to nearly a dozen villages from the district headquarters. According to the latest report from the State Emergency Operations Center, during this monsoon season, 1,692 houses have been damaged due to heavy rainfall and landslides, and public property worth 1,753 crore rupees has been lost. One national highway and 265 roads across the state remain blocked for traffic. In addition, 41 electricity transformers and 282 drinking water schemes are currently non-functional.
