In most parts of Himachal Pradesh, people heaved a sigh of relief as the spell of heavy rain subsided after this morning. The weather has remained clear in most areas of the state. However, the Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert for heavy rainfall in many regions today.
Akashvani correspondent reports that Clear weather after this morning has brought relief to residents across many parts of Himachal Pradesh. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to bring normalcy back to the state after days of disruption caused by heavy monsoon rains. The worst impact of the natural disaster has been observed in Mandi district, where around 12 cloudburst incidents occurred on the night of June 30, resulting in 14 deaths and 31 people still missing. In addition, both public and private properties have suffered significant damage. Relief and rescue operations are in full swing in Mandi and other affected regions of the state. NDRF, SDRF, and local administration teams are actively engaged in providing aid to the victims. The Indian Air Force helicopters are also being used to deliver relief materials to the affected people. Simultaneously, restoration work is being carried out on over 200 roads that remain blocked for vehicular movement, and disrupted power transformers and drinking water schemes are also being revived on a war footing. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Centre Shimla has issued a Yellow Alert for heavy rainfall in most areas of the state today.
