Modern warfare rapidly transcending traditional boundaries and timelines: Chief of Defence Anil Chauhan

Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan today underscored the need for the country’s armed forces to evolve into an integrated, agile and technologically driven war-fighting instrument. Delivering the closing address at the Ran Samvad seminar in Bengaluru, he highlighted that Multi-Domain Operations are no longer a conceptual buzzword but an emerging operational reality.

General Chauhan said that modern warfare is rapidly transcending traditional boundaries and timelines. He noted that the doctrine on Multi-domain operations is evolving and has been adopted in the training syllabus, database and integrated with the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance module. He also lauded the Make in India initiative in the defence sector and emphasized indigenous weapon development. Announcing the next edition of the seminar, General Chauhan said the 2027 Ran Samvad will be hosted by the Indian Navy. It will focus on high-intensity operations in a transparent and expanded battle space, with greater participation expected from younger and mid-level officers.
