MNRE Denies Reports of Halting Renewable Energy Financing in India

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has clarified that no advisory has been issued to pause or halt new renewable energy financing, refuting reports of lending restrictions amid overcapacity concerns. The Ministry has informed that it has not asked financial institutions to stop lending to renewable energy power projects or equipment manufacturing facilities.

The MNRE emphasized its commitment to strengthening India’s position in the global solar value chain through continued policy support, including the PLI Scheme, and making the country self-reliant in solar manufacturing. The Ministry said it remains dedicated to inclusive, competitive, and sustainable growth of the solar ecosystem to meet the 500 GW non-fossil fuel target by 2030.
