Joint Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Devesh Deval, today informed that over one lakh 96 thousand individual micro food processing enterprises have been supported under the Credit Linked Subsidy component of the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme.

Mr Deval was addressing the media in New Delhi, highlighting the achievements of the scheme in empowering Micro Food Processing Enterprises, Women Entrepreneurs and Rural Livelihoods. The Joint Secretary said that over 40 percent beneficiaries of the scheme are women entrepreneurs. He said that the PMFME scheme has covered over one lakh 72 thousand beneficiaries under its capacity building programme.

He further said that about 80 incubation centres have been approved under the scheme, of which 31 centres have already been commissioned. Mr Deval underlined that these centres aim to facilitate technology adoption, innovation and entrepreneurship development which will benefit thousands of producers and entrepreneurs collectively.

The Joint Secretary said that the PMFME Scheme has emerged as a key intervention for strengthening India’s micro food processing ecosystem by enabling access to finance, formalisation, training, branding, marketing and modern market linkages for micro-enterprises.

He added, the scheme is significantly empowering women entrepreneurs, Self Help Groups and rural enterprises, while also contributing to employment generation for around five lakh 88 thousand individual enterprises across the food processing value chain and strengthening local rural economies. Mr Deval also mentioned that the Ministry has signed an agreement with the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) to facilitate onboarding and market assistance for PMFME-supported enterprises on the GeM portal.
