Minister Piyush Goyal calls for quality, sustainability, and ease of doing business to boost industry

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal today stressed on the need for quality control, ease of doing business and sustainability to accelerate India’s industrial growth. Addressing the Udyog Samagam 2025 in New Delhi, Mr Goyal emphasized that land availability, robust infrastructure, incentives, and a corruption-free environment, time-bound approval system are the key to foster a competitive industrial ecosystem. He also highlighted the vital role of Free Trade Agreements in expanding global opportunities for Indian enterprises. The Minister highlighted the importance of strong Centre-State collaboration in driving industrial growth. After reviewing the reports from the states, he said that every state in India has developed good practices, therefore, all can adopt each other’s practices and work according to their capabilities as well. Reiterating Zero Effect, Zero Defect motto, he urged industries to adopt sustainable manufacturing practices that minimize environmental impact while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
 

Talking about the seafood exports issue, Mr Goyal said that India has already initiated trade deals on this with European Union nations and Gulf countries, and is witnessing positive outcomes. Addressing concerns about cold storage for fisheries, he urged coastal states to merge central and state-level schemes for this and mentioned Pradhan Mantri Matsaya Sampada Yojana for financial Support.

 

Industries and Commerce Ministers from 14 States and Union Territories, senior officials, and industry representatives attended the conference to review progress under the Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) 2024 and felicitate the best-performing States and UTs.
