Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav today emphasized the need for high-quality implementation of action plans in Delhi-NCR across all identified categories.
Chairing a high-level review meeting in New Delhi, to assess the air quality situation in the region, the Minister directed authorities from all NCR States and Union Territories to accelerate the on-ground implementation of annual action plans for air pollution management. During the meeting, Mr Yadav requested each stakeholder to prepare detailed Annual Action Plans for the coming year, to control pollution generation at source.
The review meeting highlighted the ongoing transition of the Public Transport fleet to electric vehicles, with around three thousand four hundred buses currently in operation and expected to increase to over 5 thousand by March next year.
