Mine Collapse in Southern Venezuela Kills 14 Following Heavy Rains

At least 14 people were killed after a mine collapsed in El Callao municipality in southern Venezuela following heavy rains in the area. The deaths occurred in three different shafts of the Cuatro Esquinas de Caratal mine. The National System teams said recovery efforts were underway.

El Callao town known for gold mining. Most of its 30 thousands inhabitants participate directly or indirectly in mining. Venezuela is full of copper, diamond and other precious metals mining.
