The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in most places in the mountainous districts of Uttarakhand till Friday. Snowfall is likely to occur in areas located at an altitude above 3,200 metres. In the plains, light to moderate rainfall is expected at several places. During this period, there is also a possibility of hailstorms, lightning and gusty winds.

The department has advised people to stay in safe places during adverse weather conditions and to plan their travel according to the weather forecast. Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall was recorded at several places across the state last night. Snowfall has also occurred in higher altitude areas, including Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri, leading to a drop in temperatures.
