Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today met representatives of Meira Paibi, a women torch bearer group from four Assembly Constituencies in Imphal. The representatives submitted a memorandum highlighting concerns related to recent incidents of violence in the state.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister assured that the government is committed to ensuring justice. He said that the law will take its own course based on a fair and thorough investigation and that those found guilty will face strict action. He reiterated the government’s commitment to maintaining the rule of law, peace, and stability in Manipur.
Meanwhile, protests continued in the state across valley districts over the Tronglaobi incident and the death of three civilians during mob violence in Bishnupur district.
The state government has extended the relaxation of curfew from 5 AM to 5 PM tomorrow in five valley districts, including Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, and Bishnupur.
However, the Home Department has also extended the suspension of mobile internet and data services in these five districts for another two days, as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.
