The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of Meghalaya, today organised a programme at MAMETI, 6th Mile, Upper Shillong, to telecast the national release of the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.
The programme was graced by Smti. B. Mylliem Umlong, Director of Agriculture, Government of Meghalaya, as the Chief Guest. The event saw enthusiastic participation from farmers across the East Khasi Hills district.
This latest instalment marks a significant milestone, with ₹20,500 crore transferred to over 9.7 crore farmers across the country.
In her address, Smti. Umlong reiterated the government’s commitment to farmer welfare and explained the benefits of the scheme, which aims to provide timely financial support to small and marginal farmers.
As of now, Meghalaya has seen 1,50,411 farmers benefit under the scheme, with a total of ₹33 crore disbursed. Under the 20th instalment alone, around 1.9 lakh farmers in the state will receive approximately ₹46.64 crore.
Officials from the Department of Agriculture, KVK East Khasi Hills, and a large number of local farmers were present at the event.
