Meghalaya Governor C. H. Vijayashankar launches self-enumeration campaign for census in Shillong

Meghalaya Governor C. H. Vijayashankar today officially launched the state campaign for self-enumeration on the census portal at Lok Bhavan in Shillong. The Governor furnished the required details on the portal for the first process of Phase I, which is the self-enumeration stage.
 
Senior officials from the Directorate of Census Operations briefed the Governor on the preparedness and progress of the census exercise, which will be the first fully digital process. The process will go on for citizens till May 15th. Individuals will be able to fill in their household details, which will be subsequently verified by enumerators during house-to-house visits.
 
Phase I includes Self-Enumeration and House Listing Operations (HLO). The latter will take place from May 16th to June 14th, during which the enumerators will collect data on housing conditions, assets and basic amenities through a structured questionnaire comprising 33 questions. Phase II, which is Population Enumeration, will take place in February 2027, with reference date set as March 1, 2027.
