Meghalaya government aims to boost policing capacity by recruiting over 3,000 new personnel

In a major boost to policing capacity in Meghalaya, the state government is set to complete the recruitment of over 3,000 police personnel by the second week of February 2026. The massive recruitment drive, aimed at addressing critical manpower shortages across police stations, outposts, and battalions, is currently in its final stages with interviews underway simultaneously in Shillong and Tura for both the Eastern and Western Ranges. Cyril V. Darlong Diengdoh, Commissioner and Secretary of the Home (Police) Department, said the process is progressing smoothly, with a substantial portion already completed.
