Meghalaya CM Presents ₹2,672 Crore Fiscal Deficit Budget for 2026-27

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma presented the budget for the financial year 2026-27 yesterday with focus on gender equality, youth and climate. The budget entails a fiscal deficit of 2 thousand 672 crore rupees, which is around 3.5 per cent of the Gross State Domestic Product. Chief Minister Sangma, who also holds the finance portfolio, informed the state assembly that for the first time, capital expenditure has crossed 10 thousand crore rupees. The budget allocation among other sectors includes 3 thousand 347 crore for education and 2 thousand 472 crore for health and family welfare.
