In Jharkhand, a Maoist carrying a bounty of 1 lakh rupees was killed in an encounter with security forces in the Saranda forest of West Singhbhum. The killed Maoist has been identified as Israel Purti. Security forces, including the CoBRA 209 Battalion, had been conducting search operations in the Rutugutu, Tunbeda and Boroi areas for the past two days.

During the operation, Maoists opened fire, which was retaliated against by the forces. Arms and other suspected materials were recovered from the site following the encounter. Superintendent of Police Amit Renu confirmed that the operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs. A high alert has been issued in the Saranda region, with additional forces deployed.
