In Manipur, the 4th Sankirtana Day observance was held at the Chandrakirti Auditorium in Imphal. The Sankirtana of Manipur was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Heritage of Humanity in the year 2013. Sankirtana in Manipur is ritualistic performance art combining singing, drumming and dancing to express devotion, particularly to the god Krishna and it is a central part of Manipuri Vaishnavite culture. It is performed at major religious and life cycle events from birth to death ceremonies.
