A twelve-member media delegation from Manipur, comprising ten journalists and two officials of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) Imphal, visited the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, today. The visit was a part of the ongoing Press Tour organised by the PIB Imphal, and officials from PIB Thiruvananthapuram accompanied and facilitated the visit.
The delegation was welcomed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor of IIST, Prof. Kuruvilla Joseph, and he delivered a comprehensive presentation on the institute’s academic structure, research focus, and its strategic role in supporting India’s space missions. The session was joined by other academicians of the institution. Prof. Joseph underscored the crucial role of journalists in promoting scientific temper and awareness, particularly in a technology-driven era.
The visit provided the delegation with valuable insights into India’s premier space science institution and its contributions towards advancing research, innovation and self-reliance in the space sector.
