In a bid to encourage and support the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) seeking refuge at various relief camps in Imphal East District of Manipur, the concerned District Administration distributed Mobility Support Bicycles to Internally Displaced students and looms with accessories to Internally Displaced women weavers.

The distribution was organised under the CSR initiative of POWERGRID Corporation of India Limited at the DC Office Complex in Imphal East district today. Manipur’s Chief Secretary, Prasant Kumar Singh, who graced the program as chief guest, distributed the support items to IDPs. Three hundred bicycles and 150 looms with accessories were distributed in the program.

Currently, Imphal East district hosts 3,500 IDPs across 17 relief camps and 400 units of pre-fabricated houses accommodating 1394 IDPs from 359 families. Other families have returned to their villages with the improvement of the law and order situation.
