Manipur CM emphasises to focus on strengthening the sector


Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said that more than fifty percent of the population is engaged in agriculture and emphasised that greater focus must be given to strengthening the sector. 
 
While addressing the Valedictory function of the Agrivision Agri-Youth Parliament-2026 at Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal today, the Chief Minister said that the participation of youths in agriculture reflects a positive shift and a growing interest in the sector. He further said that innovation and entrepreneurship is important and such platforms provide an opportunity to harness the potential of young minds and connect them with real-world challenges. 
 
Mr Khemchand further stated that in consultation with the Planning Department, the Government will explore ways to maximise benefits from agriculture for the youth, especially in the context of the State’s startup ecosystem. He added that agriculture remains a key concern for both the State and the country and requires sustained attention and policy support. 
 
The Chief Minister visited and inspected the exhibition area comprising more than thirty stalls, interacting with participants, innovators and young entrepreneurs. He appreciated the innovative ideas, technological solutions and agri-based start-ups showcased by the youth from the North Eastern Region. 
 
The Chief Minister also released the policy document titled “Agricultural Extension Innovations for Achieving US One Point Three Trillion Dollar North East India Economy @ 2047 (Shillong Declaration)”, highlighting a future-ready roadmap for agricultural transformation in the region.
