In Manipur, senior BJP leader and Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand won the floor test by voice vote. During a special session of the 12th Legislative Assembly, which began with the Governor’s address today, MLAs, including those attending via video conferencing, gave resounding approval to the Chief Minister, signalling the formal restoration of popular government in the state. Opposition Congress leader and former Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh expressed hope that the new Leader of the House would ensure a return to normalcy and peaceful coexistence. Responding to the Opposition, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the support assured in restoring peace and normalcy in the state. Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata then put the Motion of Confidence to a vote, which was approved by voice vote, and adjourned the House sine die.
