In Manipur, construction of rigid pavement or concrete roads is going on in full swing in Imphal city under the Manipur Urban Road, Drainage and Asset Management & Improvement Project.
Speaking to Akashvani News, State PWD Additional Chief Engineer Chongtham Bishwachandra said that the State Cabinet approved the project in January this year and the estimated cost of the project is 3647 crore rupees approximately.
Of this total estimated cost, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) will provide 2896 crore rupees in the form of loan while the State will bear the remaining cost as its share.
He said that the project is a first of its kind in Imphal city in which advanced technology is being used, and a total of 547 kilometer of roads will be covered under the project. Construction of concrete roads is going along Palace Compound Road in Imphal East district in full swing these days.
