Mahila Jan Sunwai programme to be conducted in collaboration with State Women Commissions: NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar

National Commission for Women, NCW, has announced the organisation of a nationwide Mahila Jan Sunwai from the 8th of March, 2026, as part of its flagship outreach programme Rashtriya Mahila Aayog Aapke Dwaar to hear women’s grievances and ensure prompt redressal. Addressing the media in New Delhi, NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said that the weeklong Mahila Jan Sunwai programme will be conducted in collaboration with State Women Commissions. The Chairperson said that it will be held across the country, covering nearly 500 districts in 25 States and Union Territories, making it one of the largest coordinated public grievance redressal drives for women. The States include Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Jharkhand and Tripura. She said this initiative reflects the Commission’s commitment to ensuring that every woman, irrespective of her location, has access to justice and institutional support. She said, through these Jan Sunwais, NCW aims to listen to the concerns of women and resolve their grievances.’ She said, through this nationwide effort, the Commission aims to address and resolve nearly 15 thousand complaints and to provide timely support to the victims and strengthen institutional response mechanisms.
