Maharashtra to launch geo-tagged 13-digit infra IDs from Oct 1

Maharashtra government will start giving unique IDs for each of the infrastructure development projects from October 1, 2025. The unique IDs will now have a geo-tagged 13-digit alphanumeric which will now be used as a primary reference number once the administrative approval is granted to the project. The 13-digit alphanumeric unique ID will have one letter state code, two-digit sanction year code, four-letter code for scheme/program, three-letter district code, two-letter asset type abbreviation and sequential serial number. The infra ID portal for the same has been activated from Monday. The Maharashtra cabinet had cleared the same in January 2025. The Maharashtra Remote Sensing Application Centre (MRSAC) platform will be used for monitoring and management purposes. Each infrastructure facility will be geo-tagged, which can also prevent duplication of projects. The information on all projects will be available on the Infra ID portal to bring transparency. This leads to a loss of crores of rupees by doing the same work.

A four-member committee was also been formed earlier to finalise its format. The committee comprises the Additional Chief Secretary of Urban Development-1, Asim Gupta, Principal Secretary of the Higher Education Department, Vikas Rastogi, Secretary of Rural Development, Vijay Waghmare and Pune Divisional Commissioner Chandrakant Pulkundwar.
