Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnav today said that Maharashtra has received a very significant amount in railways allocation in the Union Budget and many railway projects have been taken up in the whole state.
In response to a question asked in Lok Sabha today about the Vadsa- Garh-chirauli rail project in the state, the Minister said that land has been acquired for the project and the work is in progress. He said that railways has a big focus on Maharashtra and the state received funds of 13 thousand 539 crore rupees in last fiscal year, while the allocation during the second UPA regime was 1171 crore rupees per year for development of railways.
He mentioned that during the UPA regime, only 58 kilometer railways lines were being constructed per year while the number was 183 kilometer per year in the last ten years of the NDA government.
