Maharashtra’s Konkan region, including Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts has been experiencing heavy rainfall since last night. A landslide in Ratnagiri’s Kashedi ghat led to disruption of traffic on the Mumbai-Goa Highway. The district has received over 117 mm of rain, leading to overflowing of many rivers. In Raigad too, heavy rains across talukas forced the administration to keep schools shut. Considering the danger of landslides, the district authorities have further announced that Raigad Fort trek will remain closed till 15th August. In Satara, six doors of Koyna dam were opened, leading to waterlogging in the nearby areas. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Thane, Mumbai, Raigad and Ratnagiri along with a forecast of heavy rains in the ghat region of Pune and Satara districts.
