Maharashtra Govt approves deployment of 8,282 security personnel in Court complexes & Judges’ residences

Maharashtra Government has approved the deployment of 8282 security personnel in court complexes and at Judges’ residences across the state. This decision will cost Rs. 443.24 crore annually to the state treasury.  A state order issued on Wednesday outlines the phased implementation of the security arrangement.

In the first phase, high court complexes in Mumbai, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nagpur, and the newly inaugurated circuit bench in Kolhapur, along with the official residences of judges, will be secured. The second phase will cover district courts and residences of district-level judges. The final phase will include courts and judges’ quarters located at tehsil-level locations.

These security guards will be provided through the Maharashtra State Security Corporation (MSSC). The decision, taken during a Cabinet meeting on Monday, aims to establish a stronger and more uniform security system for the judiciary in Maharashtra. According to the plan, implementation will take place in two stages. In the first phase, manpower will be appointed, while the second phase will focus on providing the necessary security equipment.
