Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today assured affected farmers that the government will provide compensation to them in line with established norms after unseasonal rains and hailstorms damaged crops in several parts of the state over the past week. Mr Fadnavis was speaking to the media after a meeting of the Working Committee of the Akhil Bharatiya Sant Sammelan in Nashik.
He said the standard procedure of conducting crop damage assessments, or panchnamas, is underway and compensation will follow. He emphasised that farmers will not be left in the lurch.
Meanwhile, a swift inquiry is ongoing in Nashik into alleged fraudster Ashok Kharat, including accusations of financial irregularities and sexual harassment. The Special Investigation Team has gathered multiple inputs, and based on these, the Chief Minister said the Enforcement Directorate will probe financial transactions linked to fraudulent bank accounts.
He also ordered an investigation into how sensitive Call Detail Records reached political figures, stating such data should remain with authorised agencies. The Chief Minister has urged against politicising the case and assured strict action against anyone who brings disrepute to religion.
