Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced an ex gratia of Rs. 5 lakh to the kin of those who died in an accident in Nashik. In a social media post, Mr Fadnavis expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident which occurred last night when a vehicle carrying students plunged into a well, killing 9 people.
He also informed that he discussed the matter with Minister of Disaster Management Girish Mahajan and is in touch with the concerned authorities. Mr Fadnavis added that the district administration has been ordered to investigate the incident.
According to preliminary information, all the victims belong to one family and were residents of Indore village in Dindori taluka. Rescue operations continued late into the night, with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) deployed at the scene. However, efforts were hampered by a large crowd that had gathered at the site. The rescue teams recovered the vehicle, and the police have registered a case.
