In Telangana, the number of zero-fare tickets issued to women travelling in the Telangana State Road Transport  Corporation (TGSRTC) buses, under the Mahalakshmi Scheme, which provides free bus rides for women, crossed the 200 crore mark. The passengers saved over 6 thousand 7 hundred crore rupees. State Transport Minister P. Prabhakar informed that the reimbursement for the scheme is paid promptly by the government. Launched in December 2023, the scheme applies to women, children and transgender persons.

The Minister also said that celebrations will be held at 97 bus depots and 341 bus stations across the State. He congratulated drivers, conductors, workers and others at the state-owned transport corporation for the achievement.
