The Madhya Pradesh High Court today ordered a second post-mortem of Twisha Sharma. A team of doctors from AIIMS, New Delhi will conduct it. Meanwhile, Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh withdrew his bail plea from the High Court. He can now surrender before the investigating officer or the trial court.
The High Court also issued a notice to Twisha’s mother-in-law and former district judge Giribala Singh. The court asked her to respond to petitions challenging the anticipatory bail granted to her in the dowry death case. Twisha’s father Navnidhi Sharma and the Madhya Pradesh government have both challenged the Bhopal court’s May 15 order. That order had protected Giribala from arrest.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the state government, said there is a risk of evidence tampering. He urged an early hearing. He also said the bail was granted in a single day with undue haste and without any proper grounds. The next hearing is scheduled for May 25 at 2:30 PM.
