Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today urged students at Goa University to actively participate in democracy, speaking on the sidelines of the CPA Summit, which he is attending in Goa.
Highlighting Goa’s role in enriching India’s diversity, he praised the global achievements of Indian youth and called them the nation’s greatest strength. Birla encouraged young people to dream big, remain determined, and contribute to nation-building.
He stressed that youth participation in democratic processes ensures transparency and accountability, adding that involvement in policymaking is key to achieving a developed India by 2047. Despite many young people distancing themselves from politics, he said it remains a powerful tool for social change.
He also highlighted growing participation of women in governance, noting that the Nari Shakti Vandan Act aims to further strengthen women’s representation in legislatures.
