Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has taken several unique initiatives over the past year, leveraging technology to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament. Under his leadership, the Lok Sabha has witnessed transformative digital initiatives aimed at creating a smarter, more transparent, and inclusive Parliament. Ahead of the upcoming Monsoon Session on the 21st of next month, the Lok Sabha has evolved into a more effective platform for expressing the hopes and concerns of the people, thereby reinforcing public confidence in the effectiveness of India’s legislative bodies. Under the flagship Digital Parliament Project 2.0, nearly 8,000 hours of historic audio-visual records have been digitised, making archival parliamentary proceedings and documents accessible to the public. To address India’s linguistic diversity, the indigenous AI tool “Sansad Bhashini” provides multilingual support for parliamentary work, automatically converting parliamentary documents into the country’s constitutional languages.
