Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla attended the swearing-in ceremony of the new Government of Bangladesh led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Dhaka. In a social media post, the Speaker said that India stands ready to support Bangladesh’s endeavours to build a democratic, progressive and inclusive nation. Mr Birla also held a constructive meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and handed him a personal letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The letter conveys Prime Minister Modi’s wishes to Prime Minister Rahman and invites him to visit India at his earliest convenience. The Lok Sabha Speaker further extended his congratulations on behalf of the people of India and reaffirmed India’s commitment to deepening the enduring partnership between the two neighbouring countries.
