Long-pending National Highway-165 road project will be taken up soon: Union Minister Srinivasa Varma

Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries and BJP leader B. Srinivasa Varma has announced that the long-pending National Highway-165 road project will be taken up soon and completed within three years.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP office in Bhimavaram, the Minister said the project, pending for nearly two decades, has now received approval to be built at an estimated cost of 2,400 crore rupees. He added that work will begin shortly after final Cabinet approval.

The Minister urged people not to believe rumours about the project, stating that delays were due to technical issues and a recent re-survey, which led to minor alignment changes and a marginal increase in cost. He said the Bhimavaram bypass road, part of NH-165, will help ease traffic congestion in the town.

Mr. Varma also said efforts are underway to secure a stoppage for the Vande Bharat Express at Tadepalligudem, a long-pending demand of local residents, with an announcement expected within 15 days. He further highlighted that nine trains earlier run as special services in the district have now been converted into regular services, improving regional rail connectivity.
