Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 156th birth anniversary today. In a social media post, Mr Birla said that Gandhiji’s ideals of truth, non-violence, freedom, and justice gave a new direction and energy to India’s freedom struggle. He stated that at Gandhiji’s call, millions of Indians united and moved forward towards the goal of independence. The Speaker also mentioned that his life, message and teachings remain a vibrant inspiration for social, political and civic life.
