Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has extended greetings on the occasion of Lord Mahavir Jayanti. In a social media post, he said that the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism, who spread the message of non-violence, compassion, forgiveness, mercy, and altruism to the world. The Lok Sabha Speaker added that the principles given by Lord Mahavir thousands of years ago remain just as relevant today. Furthermore, Mr Birla said that the life of Lord Mahavir, synonymous with renunciation, austerity, and self-discipline, teaches all that peace and non-violence are the path that can bring lasting happiness and balance to the world.
