Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 2:00 PM amid sloganeering by the opposition members over various issues including discussion on Operation Sindoor. When the House met after the first adjournment at 12 noon, the opposition members from Congress, SP, DMK and others continued their sloganeering and came to the well of the House. The presiding officer repeatedly appealed to the opposition members to take their seats and participate in the zero hour.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee is scheduled at 2:30 PM to decide on the agenda of discussion. He said, the government is ready for discussion, but the opposition MPs are protesting in the Well of the House, which is not right.
Defence Minister and Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Rajnath Singh also said that the government is fully ready for discussion on whichever topic is proposed. However the opposition members continued their sloganeering which led to the adjournment of the House till 2:00 PM.
Earlier, when the Lok sabha met at 11AM, it paid tributes to eight of its former members. The House paid tributes to the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and the Air India AI-171 plane crash. It also expressed grief over the loss of lives and properties in natural disasters in different states. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla congratulated ISRO and group captain Subhanshu Shukla for his successful voyage to the International Space Station. He said, a detailed discussion on this achievement will be held in the House.
