Lok Sabha Adjourns Till 3 PM Amid Opposition Uproar Over West Asia Discussion

The Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 3 PM amid uproar by opposition members who were insisting on discussion on the West Asia Situation. When the House assembled at 12 noon after the first adjournment, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar gave a suo motu statement on the situation in West Asia. When he began giving statement, Opposition Members from Congress , DMK, SP and others came to the well displaying placards. Presiding Officer Jagdambika Pal asked them not to display placards in the House as it is against the rules.
 
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju slammed the Opposition for their behaviour inside the House saying he has never seen such irresponsible Opposition in his lifetime. He said, Opposition had given a notice regarding resolution against Lok Sabha Speaker and it is listed in today’s business for discussion. Mr Rijiju said, the opposition is confused and demanding discussion on other issues today.  
 
Despite the Chair’s request, the opposition continued protest which led to the adjournment of the House till 3 PM. Earlier, When the Lok Sabha met at 11:00 AM for proceedings, the House paid tributes to the sitting MP from Shillong and leader of Voice of the People Party Dr. Ricky Andrew J. Syngkon who passed away recently.
 
The House also paid tributes to the four former members including Kumari Sushila Tririya, Devi Bux Singh, Purnmasi Ram and K.P. Unnikrishnan. The members of the House also observed silence for a while as a mark of respect to the departed soul. After paying tributes, the House was adjourned till 12:00 noon.
